Finding Family Treasure is a juvenile fiction book appropriate for young readers ages 8-12. When a fifth grade class explores their family histories, they learn about the melting pot that is America. As the students research their ancestry, they also learn about events in history in which some of their relatives participated or experienced.

Complex issues such as diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, immigration, slavery, and antisemitism are discussed in an age-appropriate manner. Like classrooms today, the members of this class reflect a variety of racial and ethnic origins. As students discover similarities in their different cultures, they learn they are more alike than they are different.
